English Shepherd’s Pie – Cook with Us

Never heard of it, never seen it, never ate it…till today…when my boy said he will make it. It is commonly known as shepherd’s pie. It is simple to prepare and taste great the next day when you reheat it. The real shepherd’s pie is done with lamb meat. The one done with beef is called cottage pie. However any type of meat would do.

You need:

500g of minced meat (pork, beef)

2 medium onions

2-3 cloves of garlic

2 carrots (peeled and grated)

2 tbsp tomato paste

2 tbsp soy sauce

salt and pepper to taste

5-6 potatoes (peeled, boiled and mashed with butter)

Preparation:

1. Prepare mashed potatoes. Once boiled up, drain and mash potatoes until smooth, then add butter, salt and pepper to taste.

2. Fry the meat, add onion, garlic and grated carrot, then continue to saute until meat is no longer pink and onion begins to brown. Add soy sauce, tomato paste, salt and pepper to taste.
